The GTA and Southern Ontario

Toronto is our main focus. We also take on work within approximately 240 km (150 miles) of Toronto. We don't have offices outside Toronto; we travel to the property. Each area below has its own mix of housing and weather, and an inspection of your building still guides every recommendation.

Mississauga
Large stocks of 1970s–2000s two-storey homes and townhouse complexes, where valleys, attached garages and aging first-generation shingles are common inspection points. Lake Ontario moderates winters slightly near the shore.
Brampton
Mostly newer subdivisions with complex roof lines and brick-and-vinyl facades. Wind exposure on open lots and builder-grade eavestroughs and flashing are frequent topics.
Vaughan
A mix of older Woodbridge and Maple houses and large newer homes with steep, multi-plane roofs. The inland location brings colder snaps and more persistent snow load than downtown Toronto.
Markham
Heritage brick in Unionville and Markham Village alongside large 1990s–2010s homes. Older masonry may need softer, compatible mortars; newer homes often raise attic ventilation questions.
Richmond Hill
Sits higher on the Oak Ridges Moraine, with colder winters and heavier snow than the lakeshore. Ice dams and attic air leakage are recurring winter concerns.
Oakville
Lakeside older homes, some with cedar roofing, plus large modern houses. Moisture and wind off the lake affect masonry and exposed flashing.
Burlington
Postwar bungalows and 1970s–90s suburban homes below the Niagara Escarpment. Lake-influenced weather and older foundations make drainage and eavestrough capacity worth checking.
Hamilton
Dense century brick homes in the lower city and postwar housing on the Mountain. Older brick and stone foundations often need repointing, parging and waterproofing attention.
Durham Region (Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa)
From older brick homes in central Oshawa and Whitby to large subdivisions in Ajax and Pickering. Open exposure to easterly winds and lake-effect snow can stress shingles and eavestroughs.
Barrie
Snowbelt conditions off Georgian Bay bring heavy, frequent snowfall. Snow load, ice dams and roof ventilation tend to matter more here than in Toronto.
Kitchener-Waterloo
Older brick homes near the downtowns and extensive newer suburbs. Colder inland winters and frequent freeze-thaw cycles affect chimneys, steps and masonry joints.
Guelph
Distinctive local limestone buildings alongside postwar and newer homes. Stone masonry calls for compatible lime-based mortars and careful repair methods.
Niagara Region
Older brick and frame houses in towns such as St. Catharines and Welland, plus rural properties. Milder winters, but strong winds and heavy rain make flashing and drainage key.
Peterborough
Century homes and cottage-country properties with colder winters than Toronto. Older roofs, chimneys and stone or block foundations are common points of attention.
